Maud Mandel

Maud Mandel (1967- , OC 1989) is an educator and college administrator. She graduated from Oberlin College with a B.A. in English in 1989. Mandel continued her education at the University of Michigan, where she received an M.A. in history in 1993 and a Ph.D. in history in 1998. Mandel began her teaching career at Brown University in 1997. In 2012, Mandel was named the director of Brown’s program in Judaic studies. She became a full professor and the dean of the college in 2014. At Brown, Mandel helped create the Brown Learning Collaborative and worked on opening the First-Generation College and Low-Income Student Center. She was also a Salomon Faculty Research Award recipient, a Cogut Center for the Humanities Faculty Fellow, and a Seave Faculty Fellow at the Pembroke Center for Teaching and Research on Women. Mandle became the 18th president of Williams College in 2018.
