Anna Beatrice Doerschuk

Anna Beatrice Doerschuk (1879-1974, OC 1906) was an educator and college administrator. She graduated from Oberlin College in 1906 with a B.A. degree. Following graduation, she taught German and Latin in a Michigan Seminary in Kalamazoo for a year. By 1907, she was working as a teacher at the Oxford College for Women in Oxford, Ohio, a position she held for four years. In 1911, Doerschuk became the assistant dean of women at Oberlin College. She held that position for five years before continuing her education. From 1916 until 1918, she completed graduate work at Columbia University. She later became the assistant director of the Bureau of Vocational Information for New York City in 1926. Doerschuk became a trustee of Oberlin College that same year, and she continued to serve in that capacity until 1955. She served on the appointments committee, the pensions committee, and the committee on nomination of trustees for the Oberlin College Board of Trustees at various times. In 1928, she began working as a research assistant for the Welfare Council of New York. Doerschuk was then appointed as the director of education at Sarah Lawrence College in 1928, where she worked until her retirement in 1946. She was awarded the Alumni Medal by Oberlin College in 1952.
